Seamstress / Tailor Job description

Overview
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Tailor to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a passion for fashion and a strong background in garment construction. This role requires proficiency in using sewing machines, excellent customer service skills, and the ability to work with various fabrics and styles. As a Tailor, you will play a crucial role in ensuring our clients receive high-quality alterations and custom garments that meet their specific needs.

Responsibilities

• Perform alterations on garments, including hemming, taking in/out seams, and adjusting fit as per customer specifications.
• Utilize sewing machines and hand-sewing techniques to complete alterations with precision and care.
• Consult with customers to understand their requirements and provide expert advice on garment modifications.
• Maintain an organized workspace, ensuring all tools and materials are readily available for efficient workflow.
• Conduct fittings with clients to ensure satisfaction with the alterations made.
• Keep up-to-date with current fashion trends and techniques in garment construction to enhance service offerings.
• Handle customer inquiries and provide exceptional service throughout the alteration process.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in fashion retail or tailoring is preferred.
• Proficiency in operating sewing machines and understanding various sewing techniques.
• Strong customer service skills with the ability to communicate effectively with clients.
• Basic math skills for measurements and calculations related to garment alterations.
• Knowledge of garment construction principles and fabric types is essential.
• Attention to detail and a commitment to delivering high-quality work is required.
• Ability to work independently as well as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $16.00 - $18.05 per year
